Maryanne de Prophetis Growing up in a diversely musical family, her influences have been wide-ranging.  Maryanne graduated from Temple University College of Music where she studied piano and harmony with Natalie Hinderas.  During that time she also began jazz vocal and theory studies with bassist Al Stauffer. After three years of tryavel and study in Italy, she arrived in New York to continue musical studies with Warne Marsh, and more recently studied with jazz vocalist Jay Clayton.

Her trio with Frank Kimbrough and Ron Horton was formed in 2002 and has been playing in New York City venues since then. She has also performed in various ensembles at The Kitano, Cornelia Street Café, Sweet Rhythm, CBGBs, Barbes, 55 Bar, The Local 269, InGarden Concerts as part of Evolving Music/Voice, the Clemente Soto Velez Community as part of Evolving Voice, The Brecht Forum, Puppets Jazz, Jazz Nights in Princeton, 5C Cafe, Dixon Place, and the University of the Streets.

Maryanne has been thrilled to be performing with the Mark Lamb Dance Second Saturday Salons, in April as featured artist, and as guest in May and July.

In addition to musical performances she has also been presented in several poetry readings. Her poetry has appeared in the Hartford Courant and Osiris.

Her debut trio CD, A Glance, is released on LoNote Records, and features all original compositions. It is also available at Art of Life Records

Frank Kimbrough has been active on the New York scene for more than twenty years and has been a composer-in-residence of the Jazz Composers Collective since its inception in 1992. He has recorded as a leader for Palmetto, OmniTone, Soul Note, and Mapleshade. His work has been cited by the Downbeat Critics Poll (piano TDWR 2001–2003), appearances on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz and NPR’s All Things Considered. He has received funding from Meet the Composer, The National Endowment for the Arts and Chamber Music America’s Doris Duke Jazz Ensembles Project. Frank’s latest CD is Lullabluebye, with bassist Ben Allison and drummer Matt Wilson He also co-leads the Collective’s Herbie Nichols Project, which has recorded three critically acclaimed CDs, and toured internationally.

Ron Horton is also a composer-in-residence with the Jazz Composers Collective. He has recorded as a leader for the OmniTone and Fresh Sound labels, and has performed and recorded with the Andrew Hill Sextet and Big Band, Jane Ira Bloom, Phillip Johnston’s Big Trouble, Peggy Stern, Will Holshouser, and Lou Grassi among others. He was leader/arranger of the Jazz Composers Collective’s Big Band playing the Music of Andrew Hill, and has been involved in a number of other JCC groups, including the Herbie Nichols Project, Michael Blake’s Free Association, Ben Allison and Medicine Wheel, and the Lennie Tristano Legacy. His latest recording is Subtextures, on Fresh Sound New Talent.
